Prize winners Viktoria Holmik and Christine O'Connor

by Kevin Wharton

I've recently returned from the 2nd Australian Mountain Unicycling Weekend 2010 which was held last weekend. We drove down to Canberra for the event which had a nice amount of riders and a positive atmosphere the whole weekend. Everybody got along and seemed to really enjoy themselves. On the last day Mark Lavis did some ligament damage to his right ankle, we hope it heals soon Mark! I look forward to seeing everyone again at Uninats 2010!

I'd like to thank Mark Lavis, Karen Wode, the Aus Unicycle Society for all their help and as well as Qu-ax for allowing us to use one of their newest frame on the market as a special prize!

Congratulations to the two prize winners Viktoria Holmik winner of the Qu-ax Muni 24" and Christine O'Connor winner of the brand new QX Series 24" frame!

Also, here are two videos from the weekend -

One week and it's Muni 2010!

March 24th, 2010 by Kevin Wharton

The Australian Mountain Unicycling Weekend 2010 is coming up fast!

I was lucky enough to attend the first ever Australian Mountain Unicycling Weekend way back in 2004 (I was only 11 years old can you believe it :-)

This year it's your chance to ride some of Australia's best singletracks, meet other unicyclist and most of all to have fun! There will be a welcome BBQ, workshops, daily rides along with night rides, competitions with great prizes and more!

The official T-shirts have also been made and can be seen on our products page, registered riders will receive a free one upon arrival. Extra T-shirts can be purchased over the weekend, if there are any left over they will then be available to the public after the weekend.

I hope to see you all there! (Mark Lavis pictured above @ Mt Stromlo)

Unicon XV News

February 1st, 2010 by Kevin Wharton

Recently, the team arrived back in Australia after competing at Unicon XV (Unicycling World Championships). Everyone had a blast and it was great to have the whole team together and to be able to meet and compete with riders from all around the world. Congratulations to everyone on the team for putting in such a great effort!

Everybody did well in their events as well, here are the results from our Team Riders with a top 6th place:

Kevin Wharton- 2nd 16-17 Male Trials
Isaac Conyers- 3rd 16-17 Male Trials
- 3rd 15-16 Male Long Jump
Dylan Johnson-Swainston- 5th 0-15 Male Trials
- 4th Jr Expert Male Street
- 4th Jr Expert Male Flat
- 4th 0-15 Male Muni Uphill
- 4th 0-14 Male High Jump

Unfortunately Sam Thomas didn't get in the top 6 for his event, with tough competition such as Chris Huriwai, Loic Baud and Adrien Delecroix.

Mark Wharton came 5th last in the Muni cross country but was happy to have participated.

It was also great for Mark and I to catch up with everyone we met at EUC Summer 09 and to meet so many other unicyclists! Oh yes, and we've also added some new products, and there's more to come!

Sydney Opera House Update

November 5th, 2009 by Kevin Wharton

The Sydney Opera House Open Day was a great success! We spent the morning riding out and around the Opera House, it was fun to interact with the crowd and other performers. Around 12PM it started to rain, so we headed under the stairs where majority of the lines were. We set up our demo boxes and entertained the crowd there for the rest of the day. The lines kept moving so we always had a new crowd to please!

Special thanks to Alex Toms, Dan Cowling, Matty P, Andy Mell and of course Mark!

A larger photo is available on my (Kevin Wharton) Team Rider profile.

Sydney Opera House Open Day

October 7th, 2009 by Kevin Wharton

We have been given the opportunity to participate in the Sydney Opera House Open Day, which will be held on Sunday the 25th of October 2009. Alex Toms, Dan Cowling, Matty Porter, Andrew Mell and myself will be riding for the day. We will be riding from 9AM - 5PM, basically our job is to entertain the crowd outside of the Sydney Opera House as they line up for tours. It is also a great chance to promote Extreme Unicycling, Unicycle Online and ourselves as riders.

More information about the day:
Sydney Opera House is throwing open the doors and welcomes you to explore inside. Go behind the scenes, see inside the grand theatres and discover how the magic of performance is created.
There'll be action inside and outside with roaming entertainment, Trent Parke's Photography Exhibition and a big-screen on the Forecourt. Plus your chance to win some great prizes on the day!
A free, fun-filled day out for the whole family, where you can let your imagination run wild.

EUC 2009 Summer

August 10th, 2009 by Kevin Wharton

Mark and I recently atteneded the Extreme Unicycling Championship (EUC) which was held in Buthiers, France. It was great to meet and ride with everyone, the event was well organized and everybody was looked after. The competitions were great fun also, with good attitudes and an amazing atmosphere. It was definitely sad to leave, Mark and I both had such an amazing experience and met so many great people!

Thanks Yoggi and everybody else involved!

What a fantastic trip! It will be great to see everyone again at Unicon XV in New Zealand 2009/2010!

Editor's Note: Kevin came 2nd in the expert category of the trial competition at the Extreme Unicycle Championship 2009 Summer edition. It was an international competition specialised in extreme unicycling with 15 different countries. Congratulations Kevin, we are all very proud of your accomplishment!
